Screening for Plagiarism Policy
All manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Education and Social Science Studies (BEACON) will undergo plagiarism screening using CrossCheck/iThenticate plagiarism detection tools. The journal strictly rejects manuscripts that contain plagiarism or self-plagiarism.
Before manuscripts are forwarded to reviewers, the editorial team conducts an initial similarity check using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts submitted to BEACON must meet the following similarity requirements:
- Maximum overall similarity index: 20% (excluding bibliography)
- Maximum similarity from a single source: 25%
Plagiarism refers to presenting another person’s ideas, words, or work as one’s own without proper permission, acknowledgment, or citation. This includes direct copying, substantial copying, and improper paraphrasing.
The journal recognizes several forms of plagiarism, including:
- Direct Plagiarism
Copying another author’s work word-for-word, either partially or entirely, without proper citation or permission. - Substantial Copying
Reproducing a significant portion of another author’s work without acknowledgment or citation. The significance may relate to both the quantity and quality of the copied material. - Paraphrasing Plagiarism
Rewriting another person’s ideas, sentences, or concepts without proper citation or acknowledgment of the original source.
Authors are expected to maintain academic integrity and ensure that all submitted manuscripts are original works. Manuscripts found to violate the plagiarism policy may be rejected immediately or withdrawn from the publication process.
