Exploring Students’ Speaking Achievement and Self-Confidence through the Gallery Walk Project-Based Learning Strategy: A Qualitative Study at Universitas PGRI Palembang
Abstrak
This study aims to explore students’ speaking achievement and self-confidence through the Gallery Walk Project-Based Learning (PjBL) strategy at Universitas PGRI Palembang. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed involving second-semester students of the English Education Study Program. Data were collected through classroom observation, semi-structured interviews, open-ended questionnaires, and documentation. The findings reveal that the implementation of the Gallery Walk PjBL strategy enhances students’ engagement in speaking activities, increases their willingness to communicate, and reduces speaking anxiety. Students showed improvement in fluency, vocabulary use, and confidence in expressing ideas. Moreover, the strategy created an active, collaborative, and enjoyable learning environment. Therefore, Gallery Walk PjBL is effective in supporting the development of students’ speaking skills and self-confidence.
